Turkey Vulture On Rooftop

Here’s a turkey vulture photograph, made last weekend somewhere north of Georgetown. The vulture was sitting on the top of a farm barn for at least 5 minutes, grooming its feathers and ensuring from time to time that I’m no threat. It’s interesting that the turkey vulture is one of the few birds of prey using its (very) developed sense of smell to locate carrion.
The frame was taken handheld from some 25 meters using a long 500mm focal length lens.
